Charlie F. Makovy, 66, of Northcrest, formerly of West, died Saturday, March 14, 1987 at a Temple hospital. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Angelo Bertini. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 3 p.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rev. Angelo Bertini as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, near West. Mr. Makovy was born January 27, 1921, near West. He was married to Margaret Kaluza October 1, 1946 in West; she died November 12, 1984. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council No. 2305, KJT Society No. 31, and SPJST Lodge No. 54. Mr. Makovy was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4819 and American Legion Post No. 478. He owned Charlie's Sheet Metal Works for 30 years. Survivors include two sons, Ernie Makovy of Arlington and Leo Makovy of Eddy; four daughters, Mrs. Tommy (Jeanette) Petter, Mrs. Doug (Bernice) Dulock and Mrs. Tommy (Barbara) Moore, all of West, and Nancy Makovy of Rowlett; two brothers, John Makovy and Alois Makovy, both of West; two sisters, Olga Whitley of Dallas and Lillie Canady of Waco; and 14 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Edward Kaluza, Raymond Tichavsky, Johnny Kaluza, Freddie Kaluza, Robert Canady and Roy Lowry. Honorary pallbearers were Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4819, American Legion Post 478, Ronnie Glatter and Pat Tuggle. Kotch Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
