Aloys J. (Louie) Makovy, age 76 of West, passed away January 3, 1999 at his residence. A rosary was recited at 10 a.m. January 6 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West by Rev. Ed Karasek. Mass of Christian Burial followed at 10:15 a.m. with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites followed at St. Mary's Cemetery near West conducted by V.F.W. Post No. 4819 of West. Mr. Makovy was born on September 12, 1922 in Hill County, the son of John H. and Bettie Makovy. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He worked as a farmer and carpenter for most of his life until he retired in 1970. He loved to play dominoes with his family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 478 and R.V.O.S. both in West. He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He is preceded in death by two brothers, John Makovy and Charlie Makovy and four sisters, Olga Whitley, Lillian Canaday, Agnes Makovy and Albina Dolezal. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Jeffrey Makovy, Greg Moore, Nick Petter, Bradley Makovy, Tommy Petter, Tommy Moore, Doug Dulock and Nate Castelin. Aderhold Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
