John A. Makovy, age 74, of West, passed away early Tuesday morning, January 12, 1993 at Providence Health Center in Waco. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Msgr. George Doskocil, Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. John Molnar as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Mr. Makovy was born January 13, 1918 in Hill County, the son of John H. and Bettie Makovy. He was a farmer and carpenter before retiring in 1970. He also previously worked for Ray's Electric & Plumbing Co. in West for several years. He was a member of the R.V.O.S. Lodge in West and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Survivors include one brother, Aloys J. Makovy of West; one sister, Olga Whitley of Dallas; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Leo Makovy, Ernie Makovy, Jake Tucker, Tommy Moore, Mike Cannaday and Robert Cannaday. Aderhold Funeral Home in West is in charge of arrangements.
