Rosalie E. Karlik, age 68 of West, passed away Wednesday evening, November 14, 2001 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. Rosary was recited at 2 p.m. Friday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in West. Mass of Christian Burial followed at 2:15 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Father Vincent Chocko, as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Mrs. Karlik was born February 23, 1933 at West and had lived in the West-Elk area all of her life. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West and was employed at Plantation Foods in Waco for 29 years, retiring in 1998. She married Edward Karlik, October 11, 1949 at West. He preceded her in death November 1, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her father and mother, Edward and Vlasta Hykel; and two brothers, Joe Hykel and Victor Hykel. Mrs. Karlik is survived by six sons, Jerry and wife Patricia, Patrick and wife Linda, Kenneth Karlik, Richard Karlik and Steven and wife Becky, all of West, and Dennis Karlik of Laguna Park; one daughter, Cynthia Reeves of Arlington; one sister, Carol Ann (Tootsie) Lehmann of Hughes Springs; four brothers, Harry Lee Hykel of West, Robert Hykel of DeSoto, Edward Hykel of Elm Matt and Patrick Hykel of Ennis; five grandchildren and one great-grandson. Pallbearers were Billy Gene Karlik, George Hykel, Terry Hykel, Mark Hykel and Dennis C. Karlik. Honorary Pallbearers were Nathan Fleming, Melissa Fleming, Shelby Karlik and Karen Karlik.
