Joe F. (Yoba) Hykel, age 51, of West, passed away Saturday morning, February 12, 1994, at his residence. Rosary was recited 7 p.m. Sunday in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 1 p.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, West. Mr. Hykel was born August 28, 1942 in West and had lived in West all of his life. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Mr. Hykel was a carpenter and sheet metal worker for a number of years. He served in the Army reserve for six years. Mr. Hykel married Brenda Urbanovsky June 18, 1966 at West. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Amy, who died December 4, 1977. Mr. Hykel is survived by his wife, Brenda; two sons, Victor and Gene Hykel, both of West; one daughter, Crissie Hykel of West; four brothers, Harry Lee Hykel of West, Robert Hykel of DeSoto, Edward Hykel of Waco and Patrick Hykel of Ennis; and two sisters, Mrs. Edward (Rosalie) Karlik of West and Mrs. Richard (Carol Ann) Lehmann of Hughes Springs. Active pallbearers were Roby Urbanovsky, David Hykel, George Hykel, Steve Karlik, David Rowell and Ralph Pustejovsky. Kotch Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
