Bio

Agnes J. Janek, age 90 of West, formerly of Penelope, passed away early Thursday morning, September 20, 2001 at West Rest Haven. A rosary was recited at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Penelope. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Ron Scheible, O.S.A. as celebrant. Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. The family received visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Janek was born November 4, 1910 in McLennan County, the daughter of Frank and Mary Nors. She married Sidney Janek on November 27, 1939 in Penelope. He preceded her in death on June 13, 1982. She was a homemaker and loved cooking and spending time with her family. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed working in her garden, canning and taking care of the livestock. She was a member of K.J.Z.T. Society No. 11 in Penelope and S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No. 66 Linden Hall. She was also a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and Altar Society in Penelope. She is survived by her son, Clarence S. Janek, Sr. and his wife Susan of Mt. Calm; a brother, Pete Nors and his wife Lillie Mae of West; four grandchildren, Amy Coker and her husband Craig of Midlothian, Andrea Nemec and her husband Eric of Leroy, Joseph Janek of Lewisville and Clarence Janek, Jr. and his fiancee Candice Sustala and two great-granddaughters, Sydney Rae Janek and Kristen Coker.
