Crash Kills West Native, Ludwig Hykel Ludwig Hykel, 68, of Galveston, formerly of West, was killed in an auto accident Friday afternoon near Caldwell. Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Sunday in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel at West. Requiem Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption at West with Rev. Leonard Leddy as celebrant. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery at West. Mr. Hykel was born in West and had lived in Galveston for the past 40 years. He was employed with the American District Telegram Co. of Galveston. Surviving are two sons, Marvin Hykel and Gary Hykel, both of Galveston; four brothers, Vince Hykel and Louis Hykel, both of Abbott, Ed Hykel of West, and Joe Hykel of Galveston; five sisters, Mrs. Mary Machovsky of West, Mrs. Carolyn Janek and Mrs. Lillie Kudelka, both of Galveston, Mrs. E.J. (Annie) Muehlstein of Hillsboro and Mrs. Julie Hrabal of Tours. Pallbearers were Harry Lee Hykel, Lawrence Schutza, Eddy Janek, Jimmy Hykel, Frankie Muehlstein, Eugene Hrabel, Arnold Hajek, Jr., and L.A. Hykel.
