Mrs. Ludvik (Mary) Gerik, age 88 of West, passed away Wednesday morning, December 1, 1993 in West Rest Haven. Rosary was recited by Rev. Ed Karasek at 7 p.m. Friday at Kotch Funeral Home in West. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Mrs. Gerik was born June 21, 1905 in Tours and had lived in the West-Tours area all of her life. She was the daughter of Frank and Josephine Matus. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No. 6 of Cottonwood, the St. Anne's Rosary Altar Society of West. She was a homemaker. She married Ludvik Dan Gerik November 17, 1925 in West. He preceded her in death October 30, 1987. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Mrs. John (Viola) Parma and Mrs. Johnnie A. (Christine) Soukup, who both died in 1988. Mrs. Gerik is survived by two sons, Alfons A. Gerik of Ross and Lawrence D. Gerik of Springfield, Virginia; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Dudik of Hubbard, Mrs. Raymond (Mary) Marek of West and Mrs. Jack (Leona) Whiteley of Huntington, Virginia; 19 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Ray Marek, Jr., Arthur Dudik, Ernest Soukup, Jack Whiteley, III, Gary Parma and Glenn Gerik. Kotch Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
