Mrs. Johnnie A. (Christine) Soukup, age 52, of Route 1, West, passed away early Sunday morning, February 28, 1988, at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Monday, February 19, 1988, at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 1988, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Msgr. George Doskocil as Celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary Cemetery. Mrs. Soukup was born February 21, 1936, near West, the daughter of Ludvik and Mary Gerik. She married Johnnie A. Soukup in West on November 23, 1957. Mrs. Soukup was a housewife. She was a member of the SPJST Lodge 54 and the Ladies Altar Society. She was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. She was preceded in death by her father, Ludvik D. Gerik, who died in October 1987, and her sister, Viola Parma, who died in January 1988. She is survived by her husband, Johnnie A. Soukup of Route 1, West; her mother, Mrs. Ludvik D. (Mary) Gerik of West; one son, Ernest J. Soukup of West; two daughters, Bernadene Soukup of West and Mrs. James E. (Valencia) Machovsky of Coppell; two brothers, Alfons A Gerik of Ross and Lawrence L. Gerik of Springfield, Virginia; three sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Mary) Marek of West, Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Dudik of Hubbard, and Mrs. Jack (Leona) Whiteley, II of McGregor; two grandsons, Jason and Joshua Machovsky both of Coppell; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Jimmy L. Soukup, Jerry Dudik, Gary Parma, Joe Wachsmann, Raymond Marek, Jr., and Glenn Gerik.
