John Gerik, 85, Of Abbott Dies; Rites Held Wed. John Gerik of Abbott, who had lived in the Abbott-West area 60, died Monday night, Oct. 20, in a Hillsboro hospital. He was 85. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Requiem mass was held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott Wednesday at 10 a.m. The Rev. W. Pechal officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Mr. Gerik was born in Fayette County and was a retired farmer. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, KJT Lodge of Abbott and SPJST Lodge No. 54, West. Survivors include his wife, Mary; one brother, Emil Gerik of Abbott and three sisters, Mrs. Sophie Macice4k of Galveston, Mrs. Agnes Marak and Miss Albina Gerik of West.
