Requiem Mass Held Sat. For Anton Gerik Mr. Anton Gerik of Route 1, West, died in a Hillsboro hospital at 4:15 a.m. Friday. He was 83. Requiem mass was held at St. Mary's Church of the Assumption at 9 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Oliver Johnson officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Gerik was born in Fayette County and had lived in the West area the past 65 years. He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. He was a member of the SPJST Lodge No. 54 of West. Survivors include two brothers, Emil Gerik and John Gerik, both of Abbott; three sisters, Mrs. Sophie Macicek of Galveston, Mrs. Agnes Marak of West, Miss Albina Gerik of Route 1, West; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Jerry Gerik, Marvin Gerik, Herman Macicek, Harry Marak, Alfred Marak and Edwin Nesrsta. The West News, West, Texas, Volume 79, No. 21, Edition 1, Friday, September 12, 1969, page 1.
