Bio

Hayden Thomas Dallas was my grandfather, Harry H. Dallas' youngest brother. Clarence and William Otis were also their brothers. Hayden is buried next to their mother, Mary Ellen Bevil Dallas, at South Park Cemetery in Roswell, NM. Hayden came with his two youngest brothers and their mother, other in covered wagons to New Mexico to homestead in 1910. Hayden's parents divorced when he was less than two years old., and possibly before he was born. Hayden served in the US Army in Africa in WWI and was honorably discharged. Hayoden was an industrious man who liked being self-employed. After homesteading, Hayden moved to Roswell and operated a grocery store. His mother lived with him the rest of her life. Hayden's brother, Harry also lived with Hayden and their mother from about 1941 until Hayden moved to Snyder. Harry was my paternal grandfather. Hayden moved to Snyder, TX about 1950; and owned and lived the Westerner Motel. He died at Codgell Memorial Hospital in Snyder, of a heart attack. Hayden never married and had no offspring. Hayden's obituary was published in the Abilene TX Reporter,Thursday, March 19, 1959 page 34 as follows: Owner of Motel at Snyder, TX Dies: Hayden Thonas Dallas, 66, owner of the Westerner Motel at Snyder, died shortly before noon at Codgell Memorial Hospital, following a heart attack.
