Bio

Daltha was born in Texas and raised in Ardmore, Oklahoma, by Reuben T. and Martha 'Ellen' Dallas. Reuben was my paternal great grandfather. Her father had a mercantile store and the children all learned multiple aspects of the trade, giving them a good hands-on practical education. In addition, Reuben and Ellen saw to it that all the children studied and did well in school. Daltha was raised along with Ellen's son from a previous marriage, Chester Rupe, Reuben's son from his marriage to Mary Ellen Bevil, William Otis Dallas (my grandfather's brother); Louisa Bracken Dallas; Dovie Alice Rupe from Ellen's first marriage; and Arthur Wolverton Dallas, son of Reuben and Ellen. The children were all raised as family and when Reuben died in 1935 in Ardmore, each of the six received equal shares of his estate which included ten parcels of land and other assets. Daltha's birth parents, sent to me (2018 memorial manager) by Rick Yaeger, another FaG member, were: Father: Ambrose William Bigham (1856 - 1912) Mother: Daltha T Graham Bigham (1880 - 1911) Daltha married Hugh Pruitt and they had one child, Erpal.
