Arthur Wolverton Dallas was born in Ardmore, Indian Territory, to Reuben Thomas and M. Ellen (Hayes) Dallas. He was their only child together, but both had several children prior to Arthur's birth from previous marriages. In addition, his parents also adopted at least one daughter, and fostered at least another daughter. Arthur was my father's half-uncle. Arthur's father, Reuben T. Dallas, was my father's grandfather. Arthur grew up helping his father with a grocery business in Ardmore, as well as real estate. He and his half brother, Chester A. Rupe (who sometimes used the last name of Dallas) worked for the Barnum and Bailey Circus for some years. It was headquartered not far from Ardmore, OK. Arthur married Lottie in 1925, and when she became ill, they moved from Lawton, OK where they had lived since 1934, into Oklahoma City for a few months for Lottie's medical treatment. She died 4 months after the move. They lived at 1605 NE 10th Street in Oklahoma City. Lottie died of pneumonia, at the age of 46. To our knowledge, no children were born to the couple. Lottie's obit is reflected in her FaG memorial herein, citing 4 sisters surviving her and their mother. Arthur remarried to Maggie May; and together they had one son, Mathew, born 1938, who lived until 2018. Arthur outlived his parents, and died in 1952. The Daily Oklahoman, Sat., Sept. 20, 1952 carried this obituary for Arthur: Services for Arthur W. Dallas, 56, will be Saturday, 2 pm at the Church of Christ, 901 NW 10th. Burial will be in Sunny Lane Cemetery. Dallas died unexpectedly Thursday night at his home at 2245 NW 13th. He was born in Ardmore and came to Oklahoma City in 1940. He had been employed with LC Williams Trucking Company for the last 18 years. Survivors include his wife, Maggie Mae of the home, a son, Mathew of the home, and a niece, Mrs. Doris Browning, of San Diego, California.
