Bio
My great great grandmother, Henrietta, was the last child of Otha and Mary Jane "Polly" Doss Tharp and was 1 year old when her father died. Her mother then married John Davis in 1859, when she was about 3 years old. She was about 6 years old when the War of Northern Aggression began. She married William Norton Young on April 7, 1871 in Chickasaw Co., Mississippi. The following children were born in Houston, Chickasaw, Mississippi and are listed in the 1880 census there: James Noah Young - Great Grandfather William Love Young Miles Ealon Young Dollie Ann Young Yarbrough They probably moved to Milam Co. Texas at about the same time as her mother, Polly Doss Tharp Davis, around 1881 to 1882. The following children were born there: Veldimer Jack Young- died at age 8 months Jasper Claude Young Katye Beulah "Kitty" Young Sheppard Cordye Bell Young Ward Vera Pearl "Texie" Young Bryant Herren James Monroe Young William Dewey Young. She died in 1943 at the age of 87. FUNERAL SET AT NOLANVILLE FOR CONOLY PIONEER Belton, Aug. 31 – Mrs. Henrietta Ellen Young, 87, died in a Austin hospital Tuesday at 11:45 a.m. after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Nolanville church, with burial in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Nolanville, Phillips and Luckey of Belton in charge. Mrs. Young had lived in the Conoly community near Thorndale for the past 40 years. She was a member of the Christian church. Her husband died in 1928. Surviving are eight children: Elon Young of San Antonio; Mrs. R. T. Yarbrough, Thorndale; Claude Young, Florence; Mrs. A. R. Gregory, Thorndale; Mrs. Jodie Campbell, Granger, Monroe Young Thorndale; W. D. Young, Thorndale; and a daughter residing in California.
