Interment was at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Penelope. Henry Jerome Macik was born on May 21, 1920 to Joseph and Mary Macik. He was the seventh of eight children. On July 24, 1944 he married Georgia Hejl, and they were blessed with seven children: Gladys, Cathy, Diana, Henry Jr., David, LuAnn and Mary Beth. He was a lifelong farmer and part-time carpenter who worked hard to provide for his family. He was also part owner and operator of Penelope Grocery for four years. During his lifetime, he served on the Parish Council of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, was on the school board at Penelope ISD, and served as a director of Penelope Coop Gin. He served as president of the St. Joseph Cemetery Association in Penelope for 20 years. He was quiet and easy-going, and he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was always there to babysit with his grandchildren or chauffeur them to and from school when needed. His favorite passtime was playing tarocks with his sons, son-in-law and grandsons. When he pulled out the card table, you knew he was ready for a game. He also enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. During his retirement years he took pride in his vegetable garden, and he mowed for the church and the cemetery.
