Georgia (Hejl) Macik, 91, of Penelope, passed away Friday, March 20, 2015, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m., Monday, March 23, 2015, at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation to follow until 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at the Church of the Nativity B.V.M. in Penelope, with Rev. Ouseph Thekkumthala as celebrant, assisted by Deacon Denver Crawley. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Georgia was born in Wiggins (AKA Tokio), Texas, to the late Method and Ruzena "Rosie" (Kolar) Hejl. She attended the old Brigman School near Penelope and schools in West. On July 24, 1944, she was united in marriage to Henry J. Macik Sr. in West. Georgia was a seamstress and had worked for Lorch Manufacturing in West, Kreditor's Manufacturing in Hubbard, and Dickie's Manufacturing in Ft. Worth, before retiring in 1980. She also co-owned the Penelope Grocery, helped her husband on the farm, was a substitute for the Penelope School, and took care of several area children. Georgia was a member of the Catholic Church of the Nativity, B.V.M. in Penelope. She was also a member of K.J.Z.T. Society #35, Catholic Daughter of America Court #829 and the Penelope Church Altar Society. Georgia enjoyed quilting, working crossword puzzles, reading, canning and cooking. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, on May 1, 1999; granddaughters, Becky Kaluza and Mandy Macik; brothers: Emil Hejl, John Hejl, and Laddie Hejl; and sisters: Agnes Hejl, Mary Jaska, and Albina Jaska. Survivors include her daughters: Gladys Adams and husband, Ricky, of Birome, Cathy Kaska and husband, Larry Gene, and Diana Mynarcik and husband, Larry, all of West, LuAnn Matula and husband, Toby, of Penelope, and Mary Beth Kaluza and husband Mike, of West; sons, Henry Macik Jr. and wife, Denise, and David Macik and wife, Lillian, all of west; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; sisters: Martha Hejl, Willie Mae Becan, and Dorothy Mallory; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
