Albin L. Macik, age 83, of West, passed away March 30, 1999 at the Temple Veterans Hospital. A rosary will be recited at 11 a.m. today (Thursday) at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, by Rev. Ed Karasek. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:15 a.m., with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted at St. Mary's Cemetery by the V.F.W. Post No. 4819 of West. Mr. Macik was born on June 27, 1915 at Hoen, the son of Joseph and Marie Macik. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II as Staff Sergeant in the South Pacific. He married Ella Bertha Klish on October 13, 1940 in West. Albin worked as a farmer and then as a carpenter for Landmark Homes in Waco until he retired in 1980. He also had worked for HHH Construction Co. in West. He enjoyed the outdoors where he loved to spend time gardening and fishing. He could never refuse a game of taroky or dominoes. He was a member of the K.J.T. and V.F.W. Post No. 4819 of West. He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He is preceded in death by three brothers, Frank Macik, Louis Macik and Walter Macik; one sister, Frances Macik; and one grandson, Danny Ray Machac, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Ella Macik of West; one son, James E. Macik and wife, Felicia of Collierville, Tennessee; three daughters, Doris Ann Tobola and Husband, Toby, Jo Rizo and husband Rudy and Patsy Berry and husband, G.W., Jr., all of West; one brother, Henry Macik and wife Georgie of Penelope; two sisters, Lillian Dobecka of Dallas and Angeline Sykora of West; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Marvin Dobecka, Jeffrey Tobola, Chad Rizo, Marc Machac, Johnnie Ray Uptmore and Greg Holecek. Honorary Pallbearers are Luke Holecek, Tommy Sykora, Mickey Sharp and the members of V.F.W. Post No. 4819. The family received visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. March 31 at the funeral home.
