Lena was one of eight children born to John A. Pierce and Nancy J. Beasley Pierce. The other children were: Martha N., Elias H., Vienna I., John Louis, Nancy A.C., Lillie Cansady and George Washington Pierce. She was the spouse of Joe Flemings, they were married December 8, 1901 in Franklin County, Alabama. They had the following children: Wiley Clarence, Doris Amazona, Dessie Pearl, Eliza, William Nelson, Raburn Harold, Mattie Leen, Kathrene, Franklin Russell and Orman Otho Fleming.
