Sioux Center News Ben Vander Kooi, 88, of Hull, died Sunday, April 27, in the Sioux Center Comm. Hospital. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, in the First. Chr. Ref. Church at Hull. The Rev. Marvin Heyboer officiated. Burial was in the Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Kraai Funeral Home of Hull. Mr. Vander Kooi was born Oct. 9, 1891 in Sioux County. He married Theresa Boogerd feb. 4, 1914, at Hull. She died in January of 1976. He operated a trucking freight line from 1923 until 1957 when he retired. Mr. Vander Kooi was a member of the First Chr. Ref. Church. Survivors include two sons, William of Linden, Wash., and James of Hull; four daughters, Mrs. Wilfred (Agnes) Wortman and Mrs. Gene (Gertrude) Scholten, both of George, Mrs. Jake (Josie) Van Berkum of Ripon, Calif., and Mrs. Jake (Sarah) Timmer of Rock Valley; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
