Bio

Charles Joe Holub was born 8-30-1905 in Praha, Fayette Co., Texas. He was one of eight children born to Josef "Joe" Holub and Marie "Mary" Mikulik Holub. Later the family moved to Lavaca County where Charles attended Baursville and Komensky schools. Siblings are: Anna "Annie" Holub (Drozd) - b. 6-20-1897, d.12-23-1978 Josef Holub, Jr. - b. 3-10-1901, d. 1-30-1976 Bozina "Bessie" Holub (Moeller) - b. 7-19-1902, d. 12-9-1948 Marie "Mary" Holub (Koudelka) - b. 9-10-1904, d. 2-14-1998 Charles' twin: Carrie Lillian Holub (Drozd) - b. 8-30-1905, d. 6-2-1976 twins: Sidmila "Lillie" Holub (Bohuslav) - b. 9-13-1907, d. 12-26-2008 and Vaclav "Jim" Holub - b. 9-13-1907, d. 4-7-1990 twins - boy and girl who died at birth On Jan. 22, 1929 he married Eleanora Anna "Ella" Cook at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moulton. To this union were born four children: Eugene Charles Holub, b. 8-9-1929 Charles Bohumil Holub, b. 1-16-1932 Delores Ann Holub (Caka), b. 8-19-1937 Alice Joyce Holub (Davis), b. 9-22-1942 Charles and Ella lived their whole married lives in Lavaca Co. renting farms for several years and then buying a farm near Moravia. After Charles' death in 1971, Ella moved into the town of Shiner. Charles died on Dec. 21, 1971 at the age of 66 from emphysema complicated by arthritis.
