Suella Clark passed away December 27, 2024, in Dallas after a short illness, with her family at her side. She was born January 12, 1953, the daughter of Claud Richardson and Artie Mae Baker Richardson, and one of 14 siblings raised at the family farm in Baxter. The Richardson family has deep roots in Henderson County, and Suella was a descendant of one of the county's earliest settlers. Suella graduated from Athens High School in 1971 and worked for the U.S. Post Office in Larue for more than 40 years, where she got to know many of the area residents. As the youngest of her siblings, Suella was a beloved aunt to her numerous nieces and nephews, who spent many weekends and went on adventures to the beach with Suella and her husband of 50 years, Harold Clyde Clark, Jr. In a half-century of marriage, Suella and Harold owned a trucking business, operated a farm and ranch, hosted countless family gatherings, and most importantly, raised a son in a loving household. She enjoyed music, gardening, traveling, and learning, and exhibited an open-minded, tolerant nature to all who met her. In her later years, Suella was a loving caregiver for her elder siblings, especially her sisters Deanne and Bonnie. Family was the most important part of Suella's life on Earth, and her loved ones are comforted by her quiet but abiding faith in God. Suella's family will remember her wit, wisdom, dedication, resilience, and humility. She is preceded in death by her parents, Claud and Artie Mae Richardson; brothers Clarence, Jimmy Glen, Bill, Ronnie, Larry, and Truitt Richardson; sisters Mary Lou Richardson, Zephie Burch, Fayrene Miller, Betty Neely, Frances Smith, Bonnie Smith, and Deanne Richardson; brothers-in-law Herbert Burch, Floyd Miller, and Robert Neely; sisters-in-law Thelma, Billie Marie, and Laverne (LuLu) Richardson; nieces Mary Leanne Richardson, Sherry Wilson, Glenda Dingler, and Brenda Ward; nephews Tommy Burch, Michael Richardson, Roger Richardson, and Dennis Richardson; great-niece Shannon Mills; and great-nephew Danny Wilson. Survivors include her husband Harold Clyde Clark, Jr.; son Stephen Clark and wife Isis Valencia; brother-in-law Bobby Smith, and sisters-in-law Andrea (Lucy), Louise, and Ann Richardson; and many dozens of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
