Frances “Fran” Richardson Smith passed away on June 14, 2016 after a brief illness. Frances was born on April 4, 1939 to Claude and Artie Mae Richardson in the Baxter community. She graduated from Athens High School in 1957. Frances attended Henderson County Junior College and the former East Texas State University which is now known as Texas A&M Commerce. She received her master’s in Education from East Texas State University. After graduation, Frances taught in Malakoff, Crossroads, and Athens Schools. She worked for AISD from 1969-1996. She was a teacher, assistant principal and later principal. She also owned Frances Flowers. She was an active member of Dogwood Baptist Church. She loved the Lord , her family, and her students very much. Frances had a heart for serving others. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy Glen Richardson, Bill E. Richardson, Clarence Richardson, Ronnie Richardson, Truitt Richardson, Mary Lou Richardson, Betty Neely, Fayrene Miller, and Zephie Birch. Survivors include her loving husband of 30 years, Bobby Smith. One daughter, Angela McGee Nyberg and husband Mike, of Boerne, TX. Step-daughter Lisa Brewster of Tyler TX, Marcia Smith and husband Jared of Athens. Grandchildren, Austin Nyberg and wife Robin, Nina Nyberg, of Humble, TX. Hanna Nyberg of Boerne, TX. Maddie Smith and Koby Allen of Athens. Three sisters Bonnie Smith, Deanne Richardson, Suella Clark and husband Harold Clyde all of Larue TX. Brother Larry Richardson and wife Louise of Larue, TX. Serving as pallbears will be Austin Nyberg, Stephen Clark, Mark Richardson, Russell Richardson, Kenneth Neely, and Jared Smith.
