Bio

Services for Alma H. Conway, 92, of Lufkin, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Hedges and the Rev. Lloyd Bowden officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. at the Payne Cemetery in Henderson County. Mrs. Conway was born Sept. 22, 1900 in Kaufman County and died Monday in a local nursing home. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church And a homemaker. Mrs. Conway had lived in Lufkin since 1974 and prior to that had resided in Beaumont. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Carroll and Nancy Conway of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Leslie Day of Lilburn, GA and Sue and Dave Larson of Milton, WI; sisters Jeanette Simmons of Cedar Hill and Lucille Hawkins of Athens,,nine grandchildren,13 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Conway was preceded in death by her husband Prentiss Stokes Conway and her daughter, Frieda Nell Conway. Pallbearers will be Dick McKay, Roy Myers, George Honea, Wilbur Lee, J.T. Rice and B.W. Hilton. The Conway family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. Gipson Funeral Home, directors.
