Bio

Firmin Harris, 72, former owner of Harris and Son Body Shop in Athens, died in Athens Saturday morning after a long illness. His funeral service will be in the Carroll and Lehr Funeral Home chapel at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. James Kinman and the Rev. William Robinson officiating. He will be buried in Payne Cemetery in Masonic graveside rites arranged by the Eustace Masonic Lodge. Harris was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie R. Harris. He was a member of the AF&M Masonic Lodge No. 1199 and was Past Worshipful Master. He had been a deacon in the Eustace Baptist Church and was a member of the Knights Templar Lodge of Athens No. 85, a charter member of Sharon Temple in Tyler and a member of the Eastern Star Athens Chapter No.55. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alma S. Harris of Stockard; one son, Carl Fir-min Harris Jr. of Stockard; three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Hawkins of Athens; Mrs. Jeanette Bethey of Dallas and Mrs. Alma H Conway of Lufkin; and one grandson. Pall bearers will be Don Hughes, Clifford Shaver, Earlie Vaughn, Vegie Darden, Joe Cook and R.C. Harris.
