Born February 6, 1910, in Stockard, near Athens, Texas, Jeanette Bethea Simmons passed away May 29, 2005. Jeanette graduated from Sunset High School in 1927 and was retired from the Internal Revenue Service. She was a resident of Cedar Hill since 1958 and a member of the First Baptist Church of Cedar Hill. Preceding her in death were husbands, Gordie S. Bethea and Owen Simmons, sons Richard Bethea, Billy Gene Bethea, and grandson James Lane "Jamie" DeWitt. She was survived by grandchildren, Michael DeWitt, Sally Adamcik, Lori Bethea, Kelly DeWitt, and Richard Alan Bethea, as well as 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
