Bio

Stokes Conway, 66, of Beaumont, died of a heart at tack Monday morning while visiting his brother-in-law, Lawrence Harris, in Athens. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Carroll-Lehr funeral chapel in Athens with the Rev. J, A. Russell of Lufkin officiating. Burial was in Payne Cemetery at Athens. A retired conductor for the Southern Pacific Railroad, Mr. Conway was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Transportation Union, Local 1994, Houston. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Alma Conway, Beaumont; a son, Carroll S. Conway, Lufkin; two daughters, Mrs. Pat Day, Mesquite, and Mrs. Sue Larson, Milton, Wisc.; five brothers, Jake Conway, Rusk; Tom Conway, Jacksonville, Ford Conway, Bedford, Morris Conway, Longview, and Shannon Conway, Beaumont; three sisters, Mrs. Nell Aber¬nathy, Rusk, Mrs. Winnie Durham, Woodville, and Mrs. Mary Beth Vaught, Columbus, Ga.; and nine grandchildren
