Shown in the 1850 census home of her parents, Luke and Lucy (Miner) Miner in Plainfield, Otsego County, New York as Ann Brown, age 20, with her 9-month-old daughter, Lucy Ann Brown. The 1850 census mortality index was lost for New York, which may have shown Joan's late husband. The Miner family relocated to Warren County, Illinois circa 1851. She was united in marriage to Alexander J. Ridlon on October 30, 1852, Monmouth, Warren County, Illinois. To this union 3 known children were born: James Henry Ridlon, Albert Aquilla Ridlon, and Martha Jane Ridlon. ==== According to Illinois Marriage Records, 1851-1900; Ancestry .com, she is referred to as Mrs. Ann Brown. Apparently, she had a previous husband, fate unknown.
