Bio

Charles was the son of Luke and Lucy (Miner) Miner, and the second son to bear the name Charles. Born on the family farm in Floyd township, Warren County, Illinois during 1853, he lived at home until 17 November 1890 - 8 years after the death of his mother, and three years prior to the death of his father. It was about this time that his father was ruled to be "distracted", and made a ward of the court. Charley was sent to the Warren County Alms House, until transferred to the Watertown State Hospital on 19 February 1915. Records of the Warren County Alms House state that Charles was simple-minded. His death certificate gives little information on Charles, and none on his parents. Charles' share of his parents' estate was paid to the administrator of the Warren County Alms House for his care. Of his 9 brothers and sisters, Charles was survived by only one brother - Lafayett Miner, a Civil War veteran who was living in Burwell, Garfield County, Nebraska.
