Martha (Novak) Matura, 78, of Fayetteville, Texas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. Martha was born in Fayetteville, TX on July 1, 1943, the daughter of John and Julia (Chovanec) Novak. She married, Emil John Matura, Jr. on April 20, 1963, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville. Martha and Emil, Jr. were blessed to have shared forty-eight years of marriage together. Martha worked as an office administrator for twenty-eight years for Reliable Life Insurance in Houston. In 2009, her family settled into the Fayetteville community to enjoy the peacefulness of quiet country living. After retiring, Martha continued working as a bookkeeper for her son Emil's business in Fayetteville, John E Air. Martha was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ellinger and a member of the St. Mary's Altar Society. She was also actively involved with the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce. Martha was a devoted mother and grandmother. Family meant everything to her. She enjoyed cooking for her family and was well known for her famous pork chops and roast sirloin. In her spare time, she loved to sew, read, and play "Word Chum" with her daughter, Carolyn. Recently Martha could be found driving around town in her favorite Dodge Charger adorned with a black racing stripe and fun red leather interior. This car made Martha feel so young at heart. She is survived by one son, Emil John Matura, III; one daughter, Carolyn Matura all of Fayetteville, TX; three grandchildren: James Edwards and wife, Jessica Davis, Jacob Buchanan and Charlene Edwards and husband, Eric; son-in-law, Brian Buchanan of Anderson, TX; three brothers: Tim Novak and wife, Bernie, Ludvik Novak and wife, Mildred all of Needville, TX; and Joe Novak and wife, Nancy of El Campo, TX; five sisters: Annie Mae Stransky and husband, Joe; Tonie Kramer and husband, Wilburn all of Needville, TX; Mary Andel of Sugarland, TX; Adella Wadepuhl and husband, John of Orchard, TX; and Frances Marshall and husband, Bobby of Alvin, TX; six sisters-in-law: Josephine Novak of Port Lavaca, TX; Patsy Novak of Manvel, TX; Marie Novak of Houston, TX; Jeanette Michalsky of Ellinger, TX; Margaret Michalsky of Fayetteville, TX; and Betty Bilski of Houston, TX; two brothers-in-law: George Matura of Fayetteville, TX; and Frankie Matura and wife, Gladys of Brenham, TX; along with her precious dog, Levi. Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emil Matura, Jr.; daughter, Susan Buchanan; son-in-law, James Morgan Edwards; four brothers: Frank Novak, Anton Novak, Edwin Novak, and John Novak; three sisters: Teresa Todd and husband, James and Evelyn Waterloo and husband, Pete; and Julie Dirba and husband, Jerry. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations in La Grange. Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
