Emil John Matura, Jr., 72, of Ellinger, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at his residence. Emil was born in Fayetteville, Texas on October 10, 1939, the son of the late Emil K. and Mollie Claudia (Jecmenek) Matura. He married Martha Novak on April 20, 1963 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville. He worked as a supervisor machinist for McFarland Pump in Houston, Texas. He retired after 43 years of service. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Martha; two daughters: Susan Buchanan and husband, Brian of Pinehurst; Carolyn Edwards and fiancé, David Wayne Lorenz, Sr. of New Caney; one son: Emil John Matura III and fiancée, Sharon Kay Murphy of Magnolia; three grandchildren: James Emil Edwards and fiancée, Jessica Anne Davis, Jacob Buchanan and Charlene Edwards; three sisters: Jeanette Michalsky and husband, Bernard of Ellinger; Margaret Michalsky and husband, Eugene of Fayetteville; Betty Bilski and husband, Billy of Houston; and two brothers: George Matura of Fayetteville; and Frankie Matura and wife, Gladys of Brenham. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survived by wife Martha. Visitation 11 a.m. and rosary 7 p.m. today, Koenig & Strickland Knesek Chapel, Fayetteville. Services 10 a.m. Friday, St. Mary Catholic Church, Ellinger. Burial St. Mary Cemetery.
