Fort Bend Herald, November 13, 2022: Ludvik Bernard Novak, 93 years old, of Needville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 8th, 2022, at his home in Needville with his family by his side. He was born on May 20th, 1929 in Plum, Texas to John Novak and Julia Chovanec Novak. He shared fond memories of his childhood with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. As a child, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and enjoying nature at their family farm in Fayetteville. He was among sixteen brothers and sisters with a strong sense of family and faith. Having lived in Needville most of his life with his family, he worked at WKM and retired after 38 years. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a proud veteran with a great love and respect for his country. He was honest, kind, a devout Catholic, a hard worker, and a loving man to all he knew. He spoke fluent Czech and enjoyed Czech music. Ludvik had a green thumb and loved gardening. He loved growing flowers, vegetables, and fruit trees in his garden. He loved to tinker with his tractors. He fixed machines for a living but figured out how to fix so much more for the family. He was strong in his faith with a love of nature. He was an active member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, serving as an usher regularly. He worked at the church and served his church family diligently. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, being named Knight of the Year 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers John, Frank, Edwin, and Anton Novak; and sisters, Theresa Todd, Julie Dirba, Evelyn Waterloo, and Martha Matura. He is survived by his wife and love of his life of 66 years, Mildred Novak of Needville ; his daughter and son-in-law, Linda (Bobby) Christ of Needville; his son, Ludy (Patricia) Novak of Needville; grandchildren, Laramie Christ (Lacey) of East Bernard, Cassidy Matula (Guy) of Richmond, Dylan Novak of Needville, and Dalton Novak of Needville; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Matula, Avery Wilcox, Jared Matula, Emily Christ, and Cannon Christ. His surviving siblings include Tim (Bernie) Novak, Joe (Nancy) Novak, Annie Mae Stransky, Tonie Kramer, Mary Andel, Adella (John) Wadephul, and Frances Marshall; sisters-in-law, Josephine Novak, Marie Novak, and Patsy Novak. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. followed by rosary at 9:30 a.m. and mass at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville. Burial with military honors to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Pallbearers: Laramie Christ, Guy Matula, Dylan Novak, Dalton Novak, Tooty Kramer, and Kenneth Novak. Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Knights of Columbus or St Michaels Catholic Church in Needville. Services are under the direction of Davis Greenlawn at 3900 B F Terry Blvd., Rosenberg, TX 77471.
