Services for John G. Hafner, 81, 2122 N. Kansas, will be at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Brennan Funeral Home Thursday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Rosary will be recited by the Knights of Columbus No. 2608 at 7:15 p.m., by the parish at 7:30 p.m. and by the Daughters of Isabella at 8 p.m. Mr. Hafner was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital early Wednesday morning. He was born in Pfeiffer, Russia, June 27, 1887. He came to Topeka as a child. He was a retired watchman for the Santa Fe Railway and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Margaret Hafner of the home; six sons, William Hafner, San Diego, Calif., Jacob Hafner, of the home, Matthew Hafner, 529 E. Independence, Valentine Hafner, 2018 N. Buchanan, Lawrence Hafner, 1505 N. Kansas, and Raymond Hafner, 912 Sunset Lane; six daughters, Mrs. Anna M. Mauer, 307 Burgess, Mrs. Elizabeth Clachan, Tonganozie, Mrs. Ruther Gartner, 102 Lyman Road, Mrs. Mrs. Margaret Mauer, 2114 N. Kansas, Mrs. Helen Dechand, 1226 N. Harrison, and Mrs. Marcella Hertlein, 1220 Nickel Raod; two brothers, Peter Hafner, Salina, and Geoge Hafner, 1429 S. Kansas; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Deghand, 505 N. Lime, and Mrs. Margaret Artzer, 1429 N. Kansas; 36 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Info provided by 47188065
