Fort Bend Herald, September 4, 2019: Frank Joseph Mensik, age 83, passed away on September 2, 2019, in Sugar Land, TX. He was born in Holman, TX on August 15, 1936 to John E. and Edna Kristek Mensik. He graduated from Lamar Consolidated High School in 1954 and then served in the U.S. Army Artillery for two years. While on leave from his post in El Paso, TX, he married his high school sweetheart, Adele Rosenbaum, on July 4, 1956. After his military service, he attended the University of Houston where he earned his degree in 1960. While attending the University of Houston, Frank was employed by W-K-M Valve Division, ACF Industries, where he worked for eighteen years, departing as Sales Manager in 1977. He then joined Reed Tool Company, retiring in 1998 as Sr. Vice President. He traveled extensively throughout the world for over 35 years during his professional career. He was honored to serve as a Director of Reed Tool Company, Director of the Society of Professional Engineers, President of NOMADS, and a member of several other professional organizations. Frank was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond, TX, where he served in several ministries, including Parish Council, Eucharistic minister, usher and lector. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf, but his family was his greatest joy. Over the years, many special memories were made on family vacations, weekends at the lake, and fun times at the family property in Rock Island, TX. Frank is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Mary Vacek and Claudia Wleczyk; and brothers, Daniel, John, and Marvin. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Adele; his three children: son, David and wife, Kerri, daughters, Kathleen and husband, Rev. Scott Blick, and Wanda and husband, Greg Kibler; grandchildren, Traci and Ryan Kana, Ashley and Stephen White, Stephen Kibler, Laura Kibler, Jacob Mensik, and Andrew Blick; step-grandson, Scott and Claudia Blick; great-grandchildren, Mason, Aubrey, and Sydney Kana, Avery and Logan White, Nolan Blick, and one more on the way. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. E Barrington Davis, M.D., for his loving and devoted care. Pallbearers are Andrew Blick, Stephen Kibler, Allan Mensik, Jacob Mensik, John Mensik, Dan Vacek, and Paul Wleczyk. Honorary pallbearers are James Christ, Dr. Charles McDonald, Fred Poncik, and Gene Reed. A visitation will be held at Davis Greenlawn on Friday, September 6, from 5-7 pm, with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond, TX on Saturday, September 7, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of your choice.
