Bio

Herald Coaster, March 22, 2001: A funeral mass for Daniel D. Mensik, 76, of Rosenberg, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 23, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg, with the Rev. Dan Warden officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 22, with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. at Garmany & Carden Funeral Home, 1201 Fourth St. in Rosenberg. Mr. Mensik died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Polly Ryon Memorial Hospital in Richmond. He was born Aug. 1, 1924 in Needville. (See note below.) He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann; his parents, John and Edna Mensik; his sister, Mary Vacek; and his brothers, John and Oscar Mensik. He is survived by his son, Rick Mensik of Fairbanks, Alaska; and daughter, Theresa Gambini of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Michael Mensik, Ashley Hobbs, Jessica Mensik, Nicole Danielle Mensik, and Stephen DeMann; great-grandchildren, Genna Mensik, Talon Hobbs, Kaden Hobbs, and Nathan Mensik. He is also survived by his brothers, Marvin Mensik of Rosenberg and Frank Mensik of Sugar Land; his sister, Claudia Wleczyk of Rosenberg; and many nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus. He was a retired retail grocer, having been part of Mensik's SuperMarket of Rosenberg. He enjoyed working in his tool house in the backyard. He will be remembered by many because he built swing sets and angels figurines which are owned by many. Daniel was an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He was a kind, gentle man whose greatest joy in life was doing for others. Services are under the direction of Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors, Inc. in Rosenberg.
