Bio
George F. Hefner, 82, of 209 Harrison, retired Topeka grocer, died Thursday in a Topeka hospital. He was born in Pfeiffer, Russia, and settled in Topeka 70 years ago. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2608. He is survived by three sons, George W., Joe T., and Theodore R. Hefner, all of Topeka; three daughters, Mrs. Anna M. Schultz, Mrs. Catherine Burkhart, and Mrs. Florence Schmidt, all of Topeka; a sister, Mrs. Kate Allendorf, Chicago, Ill.; 19 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Church with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Rosaries Friday at Brennan Funeral Home will be recited by the Parish at 7 p.m., Knights of Columbus 2608 at 7:15 p.m., Ladies of Columbus at 7:30 p.m., Knight of Columbus No. 534 at 7:45 p.m., Fourth Degree at 8:00 p.m., and the Daughters of Isabella at 8:15 p.m. Topeka Daily Capital, 7/13/1956 Info provided by 47188065
