Theodore R. "Butch" Hefner, 81, Topeka, died Friday, July 28, 1989 at a Topeka hospital. Mr. Hefner worked for Santa Fe Shops for 34 years. He was instrumental in designing and building and was manager of Meadow Lanes Bowling Alley from 1958 until his second retirement in 1975. He was born in Topeka on April 28, 1908, the son of George Hefner and Mary Kistner [Kissner handwritten in] Hefner. He played for Santa Fe baseball team in the late 1920s and 1930s. He was a lifetime resident of Topeka. Mr. Hefner was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 534, James W. Gibbons Assembly of the Fourth Degree and Moose Lodge 555. He was married to Irene Desch on Sept. 3, 1928 in Topeka. She died Dec. 19, 1977. He was married to Imogene Peppard on Feb. 8, 1980 in Lawrence. She survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Juanita Hunninghake, Topeka, Marilyn Emory, Austin, Texas, and Judy Wilder, Kansas City, Mo.; a step-daughter, Charlotte Dultmeier, Topeka; eights grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mr. Hefner will lie in state from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Brennan Funeral Home, where a Ladies of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m., a parish Prayer Services at 7 p.m. and a Third and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Topeka Capital-Journal, 7/30/1989 ------------------------------- 4/18/1930 Census; Theodore R.
