Bio

HARDIN - William C. "Bill" Redden, 87, longtime Hardin area resident, died Thursday, June 29, 1995, in the Billings St. Vincent Hospital. He was born Aug. 23, 1907, i in Milldale, La., a son of William M. and Mattie Arnold R Redden. He grew up and attended schools in Louisiana. Following his schooling, he worked in a sawmill before moving to Montana and Big Horn County in 1928. Bill worked for the Big Horn County Road Department and 1 later drove horse teams while working for the Holly Sugar Corporation. In 1933, he began a career with the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Crow Agency with the road department, retiring as foreman in 1963. After his retirement, he farmed and ranched. Bill married Elizabeth Sucher on Feb. 19, 1931, in Hardin and the couple made their home near Hardin. Mrs. Redden died in 1988. He enjoyed gardening and feeding birds, but most especially enjoyed visiting with his friends and family. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Bill was preceded death by a son, Stephen, Survivors include five daughters, Elizabeth Feller of Laurel, Lula Lucero of Sheridan, Wyo., Corinne Buechler, Pearl Vandersloot and Jean Watson of Hardin; four sons, Lysle of Billings, Dennis of Fort Smith, William M. and Ernest Redden of Hardin; two brothers, Leonard and Dula in Louisiana; 34 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin is entrusted with the arrangements.
