Bio

Anna Frances Eshleman was the daughter of Benjamin K Eshleman and Amanda Ellen (Unknown). Anna married George Jesse Long on April 30, 1902 in North Platte, Nebraska. They had four children: Jessie Charles; George R; Avalon; and Catherine Long. 50th Anniversity was located in The "North Platte (Neb.) Telegraph-Bulletin" on May 1, 1952 on page #3 and reads as follows: "About one hundred friends and relativies of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Long called at their ranch home, Wednesday afternoon, to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. Among those present were Curt C. Long, Mrs. Florence Simants, Walter Eshleman and William H. Eshleman, who also attended the wedding ceremony 50 years ago. Centering the serving table was a three-tiered golden anniversary cake. Mr. and Mrs. Long cut the cake and it was served by Mrs. Walter Eshleman, Assisting in pouring were Mrs. Curt C. Long, Mrs. Elizabeth Kenworthy and Mrs. Eshelman. Mrs. Garfield Gutherless was in charge of the guest book. Mr. Long moved to this community in 1880, at the age of two, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Long, from Colorado. Mrs. Long, the former Anna Eshleman moved here from Pennsylvania with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Eshleman in 1884. They were married, April 30th, 1902, at the home of her parents by Bishop George Beecher of the Episcopal Church. They made their first home on a homestead seven miles northeast of North Platte, where they lived for 10 years before moving to their present home. They are the parents of four children, Mrs. H. M. Frisbie, J. Charles Long, George R. Long, and Mrs. Avalon Ostendorf. Mr. and Mrs. Frisbie observed their 28th anniversary on the same occasion." ---------- Obit located in the "North Platte (Neb.) Telegraph-Bulletin" on March 12, 1971 on page #8 and reads as follows: "Anna Frances Long, 90, of Route Three, died Thursday in a local nursing home. She was born Oct. 5, 1880 at Millersville, Pa., and came to a homestead south of North Platte as a child. She grew up and attended school here, graduating from the North Platte High School in 1898. She taught school northeast of North Platte, and later she and her husband homesteaded northeast of North Platte. In 1955, she moved into North Platte. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, J. Charles and George, both of North Platte; one daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Avalon) Ostendorf of Gothenburg; one brother, William Eschleman of North Platte; four grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Adams and Swanson Chapel with the Rev. Noah Arnpriester and the Rev. Garrold Timmons officiating. Burial will be in the North Platte Cemetery. Those desiring may contribute to the memorial of their choice."
