Bio
George R Long was the son of George Jesse Long and Anna Frances Eshleman. He was one of four children: Jessie Charles; George R; Avalon; and Catherine Long. George R Long married Wilma L (Unknown) and is buried next to her at North Platte, Nebraska. The obit was located in "Telegraph-Bulletin" North Platte, Nebraska on page #6 and reads as follows: "George R. Long -- Services for George R. Long were Wednesday at the Adams and Swanson Chapel with the Tev. bill Gardner of the First Christian Church officiating. Music was by Hadley Barrett, Jim and Rhonda Johanson and Sharon Halligan. Pallbearers were Jim and Joe Johanson, Bud Plantz, Kent Shirley, Gary Tatman and Mark Taylor. Burial was in the North Platte Cemetery. Mr. Long, 77, of rural North Platte, died Monday at a Kearney hospital. He lived his entire life on the ranch his parents homesteaded. A rodeo enthusiast, he was the founder of the Lake Maloney Saddle Club and a charter member of the Nebraska Amateur Rodeo Association. A memorial has been established.
