Bio
Jessie Charles Long was the son of George Jesse Long and Anna Frances Eshleman. He was one of four children: Jessie Charles; George R; Avalon; and Catherine Long. Jessie Charles Long married Margaret L Horne on January 17, 1931. Jessie went by his middle name of "Charles". -------- Obit was found in the "Telegraph-Bulletin" of North Platte, Nebraska on July 16, 1989, page #10 and reads as follows: J. Charles Long, 81, of rural North Platte, died Friday morning at the local hospital. He was born Dec. 3, 1907, at North Platte, to George and Anna Eshleman Long. He attended rural school north of North Platte and spent his entire life ranching in the area. He married Margaret Horne on Jan. 17, 1931, in North Platte. Mr. Long was a former recipient of the Trail Boss Award presented by Nebraska Land Days. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the B.P.O. Elks No. 985 of North Platte. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; two sons, Jim of Bridgeport and Ted of North Platte; a sister, Evelyn Ostendorf of Gothenberg; a brother, George of North Platte; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Adams and Swanson Chapel with the Rev. Bradley DeHaven of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the North Platte Cemetery. The casket will not be open following services.
