Lois Jones, 82, and her husband, Bernard Jones, 87, of Nolan were pronounced dead at 12:49 p.m. at Abilene Regional Medical Center by Justice of the Peace Sam Matta. Mrs. Jones had apparently just picked her husband up from Abilene Regional after a hospital stay. The couple was traveling northbound on Catclaw Street in their 1987 Chevrolet Celebrity, driven by Mrs. Jones, when they failed to yield the right of way to an oncoming 1993 Dodge van at about 10:15 a.m. Saturday, said an accident investigator. Crystal Buford. 25, of Abilene was the driver of the and her 10-month old son were traveling eastbound on Rebecca Lane when the couple took off from the stop sign, apparently not noticing the van. The van struck the car on the driver's side, spinning it around and sending it skidding into a grassy area on the east corner of Rebecca Lane and Catclaw. Mrs. Jones died from massive internal injuries and Mr. Jones died from massive head injuries. Buford and her son suffered minor injuries and were treated and released from Abilene Regional Hospital. The Jones couple had been residents of Nolan since 1941 and were members of Nolan Baptist Church. They are survived by three sons, one daughter, 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
