JOANNA (JONES) SCHERWITZ May 13, 1946 - September 18, 2021 Joanna Jones Scherwitz, 75, of Sweetwater passed away Saturday, September 18, 2021 in Round Rock, TX. A visitation will be held Monday, September 20, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 US HWY 277 S., Abilene, TX 79606. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 11 :00 AM at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Joanna was born on May 13, 1946 in Sweetwater, TX to the Bernard Jones and Lois Matthews Jones. She married Jerry Ray Scherwitz on July 15, 1967 in Nolan/Divide, TX. Joanna enjoyed hard work and was a successful entrepreneur. She most recently grew and sold fresh, organic produce to the residents of Nolan and Fisher counties. Joanna was very artistic and enjoyed painting and crafting. She was also a very talented pianist and loved working outdoors and landscaping. Most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Joanna was 72% Cherokee Indian and enjoyed collecting arrow heads. She was in the process of registering with the Cherokee nation. The most important thing to Joanna was her deep faith and belief in her Lord Jesus Christ. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Joanna is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Jerry Scherwitz; three sons, John David Scherwitz and wife Shelli Annette Scherwitz, Bryan Dale Scherwitz and husband Michael Krause and Travis Daniel Scherwitz; grandchildren, Patrick Sloan Scherwitz, Kameron Jaymes Scherwitz, Karson Daniel Scherwitz, Dylan Shane Scherwitz; 2 brothers, Roy Dearl Jones (Anita) and James Earl Jones (Doniece); numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Joanna was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Wayne Jones and Carrol Jones. The Scherwitz family would like to express their gratitude to Mr. Greg Warren of Gorman, TX: "You have been a source of strength, wisdom and support for our family. Joanna loved you as do we.
