Son of George Emerson Munn of Fairfield, Clay County, Nebraska and Cecile Flora Spencer of Mason City, Custer County, Nebraska. Husband of Frances Aileen VanZandt of Mason City, Custer County, Nebraska; married on 04 June 1947. United States Army World War II Obituary - "John Munn, 58, of Mullen, a former resident of Mason City, died Monday, April 9th, 1979 at a Lincoln hospital. Services were held Thursday at the Mullen United Methodist Church with burial in the Mullen Cemetery. There were Masonic and American Legion graveside rites. Mr. Munn was born June 12, 1920 at Ansley, the son of George E. and Cecile Munn. He grew up in the Mason City-Ansley area. He served in the 5th Armored Division in Europe during World War Two. He was married to Frances A. VanZandt. The couple ranched near Mullen. Survivors include his widow; one son, Charles, of Mullen; a daughter, Joan Hopkins of Lincoln; his mother, Cecile Munn of Broken Bow; three brothers, Gerald of Denver; Marvin of Junction City, Kansas and George of the Panama Canal Zone; and six sisters, Iola Case of Ansley; Rowena Trew of Lincoln; Naomi Fox of Broken Bow; Bonnie Munn of Litchfield; Georgena Miller of Ansley and Donna Henion of Galesburg, Michigan."
