Son of George Emerson Munn of Fairfield, Clay County, Nebraska and Cecile Flora Spencer of Mason City, Custer County, Nebraska. Husband of Louise Gloria Grote of Panama; married on 16 August 1956 in Panama City, Republic of Panama. United States Air Force "George Edward Munn, 79 of Lincoln, died on Jan. 14, 2013 after he lost his battle to lung cancer. George was born on April 15, 1933 in Mason City to George Emerson Munn and Flora Cecil Spencer. During Jan. 1953, George enlisted in the U.S Air Force during the Korean War. He served 10 1/2 years as an Air Force aircraft mechanic. During one of his overseas tours at the Panama Canal Zone, he met his beautiful Panama born wife, Louise Gloria Grote. In 1964 George accepted a position in federal law enforcement as a Canal Zone police officer. He remained in that position until the implementation of the Panama Canal Treaties in 1981. In 1982 he returned to Omaha. In 2004, George and Louise relocated to Lincoln. He is survived by his four children: George Munn (Jr.) of Yankton S.D., Mary and Mike Layton of Vero Beach, Fla., Fritz and Sheri Munn of Gainesville, Fla., and David and Cheryl Munn of Lincoln. His has six grandchildren: Seth, Sarah, Mike, Cassidy, Samantha, Cierra and Connor. He has one great granddaughter, Ariya; and his sister, Bonnie Wilson, of Litchfield. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise, his three brothers, John, Marvin, Gerald; six sisters: Iola, Georgina, Rowena, Naomi, Betty, Donna.
