Bio

Andrew B. "Andy, 74, Kusek. of Ord died Sunday July 20, 2003 at Seward Memorial Hospital in Seward. Mr. Kusek was cremated. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. the Rev. Jim Heithoff will officiate. Internment will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Mr. Kusek was born July 14, 1929 to Andrew M. and Clara V. (Czuba) in Valley County. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife Genevieve; three sons and daughter-in-law, Tom, Paul and Carl and Shari Kusek all of Lincoln; six daughters and four sons-in-law, Carla and Bob Fiedler of Pleasant Dale, Joan Kusek and Jim Hildebrand of Palo Alto, Calif., Judy and Harold Harmer of Arvada, Colo., Ann and Al Underwood of Seward, Marilyn Kusek, Anne Kochis of Florence, Mass., and Ellen and Keith Novak of Ord, a brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Betty Kusek of Boring, Ore., five sisters and a brother-in-law, Sister Bonaventure, Sister Lenore, Sister Clara Frances and Mildred Kusek, all of Chicago and Helen and Don Glatter of Amherst; two sisters-in-law, Ardath Kusek and Evelyn Kusek, both of Burwell. Other survivors include 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was raised on a farm by Elyria, Neb and attended school in Elyria and Ord. On October 21, 1953, he married Genevieve Boyce at St Mary's Catholic Church in Elyria. They farmed north of Elyria until moving to Ord in1970. Mr. Kusek worked on road construction until he retired. His hobbies were playing cards with friends and family and fishing. In the last several years of his life, Andy was blessed in getting to know his children and grandchildren in a special way, expressing his love and pride for them and for his faith, in playing cards, sharing jokes and flowing the tennis athlete's' careers. He is deeply loved and will be messed by all of them. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Bernard, Henry, Adrian and one sister, Marie Suminski. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Ord Volunteer R=Fire Department of the Knight's of Columbus. Condolences may be sent in care of Gen Kusek 315 S 19th, Ord, NE 68862.
