Marie J. Suminski October 2, 1924-September 26,2000 Longtime Gresham resident Marie J. Suminski, 75, died Tuesday, September 26, at her home. A recitation of the rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, followed by a funeral mass at 1 a.m. Monday, Oct.at St. Henry Catholic Church, 346 .W. First St., Gresham. A committal service will follow at 1 p.m. at Gethsemani Cemetery in Portland. She was born in Elyria, Nebr. to Andrew and Clara Kusek. She grew up in Nebraska ands was a homemaker until 1960. She moved to Gresham and joined St. Henry Catholic Church. She volunteered there and at St. Vincent de Paul. She worked a Oregon Health Sciences University as a cook and the Edgefield Children's Center and Multnomah County Correctional Facility in Troutdale as a secretary until retiring I 1987. She enjoyed music, reading and cooking. Survivors include her sons, Bernard Suminski of Portland, Michael and Gregory Suminski of Sandy and William Suminski of Hillsboro; daughters, Connie Rice of Gresham, Susan Matson of Philomath and Mary Hartford of Cornish, Maine; brothers, Adrian Kusek of Burwell, Neb., Andrew Kusek of Ord, Neb., and Floyd Kusek of Boring; sisters, Helen Glatter of Kearney, Neb., Mildred Kusek of Chicago, Sister Lenore of Montgomery, Ala., Sister Bonaventure of Chicago and Sister Clara Francis of Chicago; and 13 grandchildren. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Vincent Paul at St. Henry Catholic Church. Gresham Funeral Chapel is in charge or arrangements.
