Thomas was born on Nov. 29, 1954 to Andrew and Genevieve (Boyce) Kusek in Ord. He graduated from Ord Jr.-Sr. High School in 1973. He then attended UNL, graduating in 1989 with a degree in construction management. Among several previous jobs, he worked for Hampton Enterprises as a projectonstruction manager. Tom loved spending time with his son Shawn and his family. His grandson, Anthony, was the light of his life. He was a lifetime seeker of knowledge and spent many hours researching various subjects online. Debating current issues and getting people to think outside their comfort zone was his trademark. He had a subtle, positive and lasting influence on those he met Survivors: his mother; son, Shawn (Amy) Kusek, Lincoln; grandson, Anthony Kusek, Lincoln; brothers and sisters, Paul Kusek, Hickman, Carl Kusek, Lincoln, Ellen (Keith) Novak, Pleasant Dale, Marilyn (Ann Kochis) Kusek, Florence, Mass., Ann (Al) Underwood, Seward, Judy (Harold) Harmer, West Valley City, Utah, Joan (Jim) Hillebrand, Palo Alto, Calif., and Carla (Robert) Fiedler, Pleasant Dale. Preceded in death: father, Andrew Kusek. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Olde Glory Theatre and Community Hall, Seward. Inurnment: at a later date. Memorials in care of: Kusek Family.
