Emil F. Hejl, age 76, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday evening, December 8, 1992. Rosary was recited 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro, with Rev. Alfred LaFleur, O.S.A., as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Mr. Hejl was born November 27, 1916 near West and had lived in Itasca for 18 years before moving to Hillsboro in 1965. He was a retired farmer, a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro, the Knights of Columbus Council #2305 of West and the K.J.T. Hillsboro Society #109. Mr. Hejl was a veteran of WWII having served in the Army. He married Martha Grmela, November 12, 1945 at West. Survivors include his wife, Martha of HIllsboro; three sons, Eugene and Edwin Hejl, both of Hillsboro and Willie Joe Hejl of Abbott; two daughters, Helen Johnson of Salado and Josephine Hoeft of Riesel; five sisters, Willie Mae Becan and Martha Hejl, both of Fort Worth, Georgia Macik and Mary Jaska of Penelope and Dorothy Mallory of Sumner, Washington; and 12 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Bill Kozlovsky, Ernest Grmela, Henry Rejcek, Johnnie Kolar, Harry Grmela and Henry Macik. Kotch Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
