Mary Ann Jaska, age 86, of Penelope, passed peacefully from this life on late Thursday morning, May 30, 2013 at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. She was a recent resident of Town Hall Estates in Hillsboro following the explosion and destruction of West Rest Haven in West. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Penelope, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery near Penelope. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Mary and her twin sister, Albina, were born January 31, 1927 in West, the daughters of Method and Ruzena "Rosie" (Kolar) Hejl. She had many fond memories of her life on the family farm growing up with her eight siblings. She attended the Brooken School near Penelope. Always together, Mary and Albina were married on September 6, 1947 in West to the Jaska brothers, Joe and Albert. They settled near Penelope where they led a happy life together and were blessed with four children. Mary helped her husband with the family farm and being an excellent seamstress, spent many hours at the sewing machine. She always had a big vegetable garden and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Mary was a member of The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Penelope. She was also a member of KJZT Lodge #35 as well as the Catholic Daughters Court # 829 of West. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Joe, after nearly 43 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Josephine Jaska Poe ; a grandson, Jeffrey Thomas Jaska ; sons-in-law, Larry Jack Ayers and Mark Dwain Poe ; sister, Agnes A. Hejl , twin sister, Albina M. Hejl Jaska and her husband, Albert H. Jaska ; and brothers, John Frank Hejl and Emil Frank Hejl . Survivors include two daughters, Jeanette Ayers of Houston, and Susan Janek and husband Clarence of Mt. Calm; a son, Joe Jaska Jr, and wife Susie of Penelope; four sisters, Georgia Macik, Willie Mae Becan, Martha Hejl and Dorothy Mallory; eight grandchildren, Tammy Ayers, Tracy Ayers, Amy Coker and husband Craig, Andrea Nemec and husband Eric, Joseph Janek, Shorty Janek and wife Candice, Jennifer Sembera and husband Jason and Joey Jaska; six great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Joseph Janek, Shorty Janek, Joey Jaska, Craig Coker, Eric Nemec and Jason Sembera. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery Fund.
